CMS Announces End of Approving Section 1115 Medicaid Demonstration Waivers’ Inclusion of Non-Medical Programs
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has formally notified state Medicaid directors that it will no longer approve Section 1115 waiver applications that include non-medical programs such as nutrition, housing, and transportation assistance. The agency maintains that these services have not historically been covered under Medicaid and should not be supported by federal matching funds.
HNH Insight
